Larimer County Democratic Party Reorganization Meeting

Saturday, February 11, 2023

9:30 a.m. (check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.)

Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School

3002 East Trilby Road

Fort Collins, CO 80528

Every odd calendar year, the Larimer County Democratic Party Central Committee gathers to elect Larimer County Democratic Party officers, district officers, and delegates (also known as bonus members) to the State Central Committee. All members of the public are welcome, but only Central Committee members, or those with a member’s designated proxy, can vote. The meeting is organized and run per the Colorado Democratic Party Rules. All multi-county district officers will be elected at separate meetings, which are listed on the Larimer County Democratic calendar.

The Larimer County Democratic Party Central Committee is composed of all the Democratic Party precinct organizers, elected officials, party officers, and district officers who reside in Larimer County. If you have a question about your voting status, please contact the Larimer County Democratic Party Office at 970-689-6391 or info@larimerdems.org.

The call to the Reorganization Meeting will be sent via email and mail to all Central Committee members by February 1, 2023.

Proxy Information

If you are eligible to vote, but unable to attend the meeting in person, you can submit a proxy. Proxies help ensure we meet the quorum requirement for the meeting, which is 40 percent of Central Committee members.

You will receive a proxy statement with your call. Proxies must be presented upon check-in on February 11, 2023. Alternatively, by close of business on February 9, 2023, you may:

  • Mail your proxy to the Larimer County Democrats (P.O. Box 1252, Fort Collins, CO 80522);

  • Deliver your proxy to the office (604 South Mason Street); or

  • Print your proxy, sign, scan, and email it to (info@larimerdems.org).

A person does not have to be a member of the Central Committee to carry your proxy, but must be a Democrat registered in Larimer County. One proxy per person is allowed. If you don’t have a person to carry your proxy, please send it in and the Credentials Committee will assign it to someone. Proxy holders will vote those proxies in the districts where the voting member resides. For House and Senate break-out meetings, it is helpful to have the proxy assigned to someone who resides in the same district, but it is not required.

Candidates for Office

Any Democrat registered in Larimer County can run for party office, apply for a delegate (bonus member) position, or be nominated from the floor of the meeting. Candidates can self-nominate and a second is not required.

You must submit your intent to run for office to the Larimer County Democratic Party Chair via email (chair@larimerdems.org) by February 7, 2023 to have your name printed on the ballot.

Larimer County is allotted a certain number of delegates to the State Central Committee, the various multi-county State House and Senate Districts, and U. S. Congressional Districts. Anyone who is a registered Democrat in Larimer County, and the particular district, is welcome to apply for any delegation. Candidates should ensure they can attend the multi-county meeting for which they are applying. Delegate selection is completed by random drawing to encourage participation by newer volunteers.

Applications for delegate positions will be available from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (or close of the last House District meeting) on February 11, 2023 in the Credentials Room at the Reorganization meeting. One application per person per position is allowed. Multiple applications from any person will result in the disqualification of that person. Applications must be signed by the applicant and include an email and phone number so that delegates can be contacted by the State Party before the multi-county meeting.

Each multi-county district will have its own secure ballot box. Applications must be completed and placed in the correct ballot box by 1:40 p.m. (or 10 minutes after the close of the last House District meeting) on February 11, 2023.

On February 12, 2023, delegates will be selected by the Credentials Committee through a random drawing of applications submitted on February 11, 2023. Larimer County delegations will be equally divided between genders.
