What is Caucus?

A biennial meeting of members of the Democratic Party at the precinct level!

🗳️ Elect Precinct Organizers & delegates to County Assembly and Convention (March 16).

🔗Click here starting February 20, 2024 to access forms to register for Caucus, submit your intention to run for Precinct Organizer, submit your intention to run for Delegate to the County Assembly, propose an item for the Colorado Democratic Party Platform and/or apply to be an Election Judge.

What is the County Assembly?

Nominate candidates for county-wide positions and single-county House Districts:

  • Larimer County Clerk

  • Larimer County Commissioners

    • Districts 2, 3

  • HD51, 52, and 53.

Elect delegates to State, Congressional, Judicial District and Multi-County assemblies.

Debate and vote on any Resolutions that come to the LCD Platform Committee from Caucus.

What is the County Convention?

A smaller meeting within the County Assembly, of delegates elected at Caucus!

 🗳️ Nominate delegates to the State and Congressional Conventions based on the results of the Presidential Primary on March 5, 2024.

🎯 Delegates elected at the State and Congressional Conventions attend the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, August 19-22, 2024.

What comes next?

Congressional Assembly and Convention

If you wish to be a delegate to nominate candidates at your Congressional District assembly, you must be elected at our County Assembly.

You may also be elected a delegate to the Democratic National Convention through your Congressional District, and it is usually easier than trying to be elected at State Convention.

State Assembly and Convention

April 13, 2024

  • At State Assembly, delegates nominate statewide candidates to be placed on the ballot for the Primary Election on June 25, 2024.

  • At State Convention, delegates to the Democratic National Convention, which meets in August, and to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) are elected.

    • Individuals have the unique chance to run for one of four available positions representing Colorado at the Democratic National Committee (DNC). The DNC plays a pivotal role in shaping the Democratic Party's policies and strategies. Those passionate about the direction of the party and the nation are encouraged to consider running for this influential position. Statements of candidacy forms for all national delegates and DNC members can be accessed on the Colorado Democratic Party's website and are due by March 18, 2024.

How can you participate?

  • Check/update your voter registration here. To participate in caucus, you must be a registered Democrat living at the address on your registration by Feb. 16, 2024.

  • On the "My Voter Registration" page, click on “County & District Information” to find your 10-digit precinct number. The last 3 digits are your local precinct. Click here to learn what all the numbers mean.

  • Starting on February 20, 2024, forms will be available on this website to 

  1. Register for Caucus

  2. Submit your intention to run for Precinct Organizer

  3. Submit your intention to run for Delegate to the County Assembly

  4. Propose an item for the Colorado Democratic Party Platform

  5. Apply to be an Election Judge
