Congratulations to the newly elected Mayor of Fort Collins, Jeni Arndt. Her victory creates a vacancy for our General Assembly Representative, House District 53, at the Colorado State Legislature.
The House of Representatives is currently in the midst of their 2021 Regular Session, and thus it is imperative to fill the vacancy as soon as possible to maintain constituent representation for District 53.
Registered Democrats interested in becoming a candidate for this vacancy should email their letter of intent to run as soon as possible to firstname.lastname@example.org. You must be a registered Democrat and reside within House District 53 to be eligible. Once the HD53 Chair has received your letter of intent, you will be provided a list of the Vacancy Committee voting members.
The HD53 Vacancy Committee members will be sent a letter via the United States mail, serving as the official meeting call, ten days prior to the meeting. The Vacancy Committee meeting will be held via Zoom and open to the public on Thursday, April 22, registration begins at 5:00 pm, gavel at 5:30 pm, ending by 7:30 pm. Candidates and their nominators will address vacancy committee members and the public during the meeting.
Voting by credentialed HD53 Vacancy Committee members will take place, in person, at the Larimer Dems office located at 606 S. Mason Street, Fort Collins, on April 23rd and 24th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Please bring identification and wear a face mask as social distancing protocols will be in place.
