Comment to CDOT NOW!
We have an immediate opportunity to speak out on the need for and advantages of commuter rail. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has completed the North I-25 Draft Environmental Impact Study (NI25 DEIS). Two packages of options have been presented with only one, Package A, including commuter rail. The railway in this package is the existing Burlington Northern/Santa Fe (BNSF) track running from Fort Collins to Longmont.
Our research of Package A brings us to recommending three primary components:
~ the need to address necessary safety upgrades on I-25,
~ integrate all mass transit components of the package, and
~ in particular, highly support the commuter rail component that will connect the downtowns of communities along the US 287 corridor with Denver Metro FasTracks and RTD transit centers.
The public is being asked to comment on the draft EIS through CDOT’s online comment form, or by mail (CDOT Region 4, 1420 2nd Street, Greeley, CO 80631) or phone (970-352-5455 or 303-779-3384). The time is NOW to express your support for commuter rail, before the public comment period ends on December 30, 2008.
