Hosting Convention Delegates in 2008
PLEASE FILL OUT OUR QUESTIONNAIRE!

Would you like an opportunity to visit with delegates to National Convention next August?  Would you like to act as a tour guide, squiring visitors around the county, or sit around swapping ideas about environmental regulations, health insurance plans, education, alternative energy, and other topics?

Your county party plans to offer opportunities for some number of delegates to come to Larimer County immediately after the Convention to enjoy our hospitality, but we don’t have that number yet.  We need your help to estimate how many delegates Larimer County Democrats can accommodate.

If you think that would like to participate in this venture, as a host and/or a tour guide, or to contribute to our BBQ, please click HERE to respond to our questionnaire.

National Convention in Denver will run from Monday, August 25 through Thursday, August 28, 2008.   We would like to invite other states’ delegates here for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29-31.  The time when delegates will be selected by their state parties is fast approaching, and we want to issue our invitation soon after that happens.  That means we need to poll all of you now, so we can put together a proposal.

We would like to offer tours of Rocky Mountain National Park, Loveland’s public sculpture and perhaps a foundry tour, opportunities to shop or play golf or go horseback riding, and some free accommodations. (We welcome other ideas.)  We hope to include a big Saturday night barbeque, where everyone can visit and swap ideas.  Transportation, home stays, home meals, and the BBQ should be free to our guests.  They will be expected to pay for their own public accommodations, restaurant meals, golf and horseback fees, the shuttle back to DIA, etc.

Delegates’ needs will vary.  Some will drive to Denver and can drive to Larimer County.  Others may rent a car, or they may need a ride from Denver.  We expect that most will prefer staying in public accommodations, but some might appreciate staying in private homes.  Some will leave Sunday morning and others, Monday morning.

To determine how many delegates we can invite, we need to know by Monday, February 11, how many of you think you will be able to do something next year.  (We know that situations can change…)  We really would appreciate your response to the following survey.

Thank you,

Adam Bowen, Chair
Larimer County Democratic Party
